We just got back from a wonderful vacation to San Diego (Mission Beach). We got to spend a week there with Grandma Sheila and Aunt Sara at a cute little beach house. What a perfect vacation for a family! We hope to go again next year.
Our house was just steps from the boardwalk, which was great for rollerblading and bike riding, bird chasing and tractor watching.
Brian and I went stand up paddle boarding one morning - it was fun, but I think we both liked boogie boarding best. More exciting!
The boys liked the beach OK, but I think Max was scared by the sound of the waves. Sand was a new one for them as well, and they quickly learned that it gets everywhere (eyes, mouths, etc. etc.). We got to go a few times with everyone, and a few other times without the kids. It was so nice to be close to the water.
We drove to La Jolla to see the seals at Seal Beach - The boys liked that, but were again a little timid about the waves.
A nice lady took our picture for us ... but wasn't quite sure how to get us all in the frame.
We had a day at Sea World - lots of fun! We got to see a lot of animals, which the boys liked. Jake REALLY liked going on the rides though - I think we are going to have a little roller coaster enthusiast someday.
We went to Balboa Park to ride the train - it was a big hit!
